In Memorium John Farleigh

San Diego Rose Society wishes to recognize a lifetime of service to roses by the late John Farleigh. John died July 27, 2003, in San Diego. He was president of the SDRS twice – in 1962 and again in 1975. He was recognized as the Pacific Southwest District Outstanding Consulting Rosarian in 1977. John and his wife, Jane, were dedicated rose judges for decades and jointly received recognition in 1993 as district outstanding judges. John also held the SDRS Bronze Honor Medal in recognition for service to the San Diego Rose Society. In 1977 he received the American Rose Society’s highest district award with the District Silver Honor Medal.

These accolades do not adequately describe the man who was always a rose friend and volunteer at hand for nearly forty years. He is remembered fondly by the many members who became better rosarians from the example of his life.
