Dear Fellow Rosarians:
Every five years the American Rose Society does a review of the current ratings of roses listed in the Rose Buyers Guide we all receive each year as a member of the ARS. This is one the time we have a chance to help change the numerical rating of the roses listed in the booklet. You may have found that a rose rating in the guide understated or overrated the quality of individual roses and this is your chance to have input on that rating. You do not have to be a member of the ARS to do a report. There have been far too few reports filed as of this date thus the Roses In Review Chairman has extended the deadline for reports until April 15. It is part of the duties of Consulting Rosarians to do the Roses In Review survey.
This Quinquennial Survey is on the ARS website there was a full page article about the survey in the ARS Magazine in the March April issue and unfortunately too many of us missed it. The survey is available on the ARS website http://www.ars.org. There are two ways to complete the survey, either by filing the report on the internet directly on the ARS website or by printing out the report, filling it in and mailing it to me. My address is Hal Reynolds, 73308 Tamarisk St. Palm Desert, CA 92260. I found it was very simple and quick to do it on the internet directly with ARS. If you prefer you can print it out (it is 25 pages long) mail it to me and I will file the report for you. You will probably find that you only grow a small percentage of the roses listed and it will not take long to complete.
We really need your assistance with this survey since the booklet it derived from these reports is an important part of the services provided to American Rose Society members. The Buyers Guide is an important tool for rosarians since it provides the only guide many rosarians have for selecting the good varieties. It helps insure that rose growers have success growing their roses and that they do not waste their money on roses that might not thrive. Thanks for your assistance with this important review.
Sincerely. Hal Reynolds
